My cancer journey started in the middle of July 2021 when I felt my stomach was very hard and a bit swollen. I attended my GP and on her advice I went to the Hermitage clinic. On 6th August 2021 I was told I HAD CANCER! Covid=no visitors and it’s not the news you want to tell your family over the phone.. On 12th August I started Chemotherapy…

I had 18 sessions altogether. I finished my last one on 23rd February 2022 and met Prof Gallagher on March 9th. He told me I had had a complete response to chemo and there was no sign of any cancer.

That’s when panic set in. I was so afraid in the weeks following the end of my treatments. I had no idea why I felt this way, I had been given all good news so why the sudden fear?A friend who had already used the service advised me to call LARCC and that was my saving grace. I spoke to a lovely nurse who invited me up to talk through their services and what they offered. I’m still attending LARCC and I cannot recommend them highly enough. This fundraiser is my way of saying thanks and hopefully give them some much needed funds to continue their great work and invaluable service for cancer sufferers and their families. I am feeling great again and what better way to celebrate than a FUN fundraising Event with all my family and friends who have helped me over the past months. August 12th 2021; started chemotherapy August 13th 2022; Trek across Ardagh mountain.
