overview

North West Simon Community provides a point of contact for people at risk or experiencing homelessness who are seeking housing advice and information at our offices in Letterkenny and Sligo. We receive inquiries from people who present at our office, telephone the office, or submit online referrals (including agency referrals) seeking advice and support.

where your money goes

North West Simon’s Resettlement Support focuses on helping people to find a suitable place to live, after a period of homelessness. If a person is living in temporary accommodation or can no longer continue to live at their current address, North West Simon will work to provide advice, guidance, and practical supports to help the household find long term secure accommodation.

history

Established in 2005, the vision of North West Simon Community is that Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo are places where all individuals and families have the appropriate support to access a home of their own and the supports necessary to sustain their home.

From the outset, North West Simon Community adopted a Housing Led approach to homelessness. This objective was pursued through the establishment of an Approved Housing Body, and the development of an Outreach Team to work with people at risk of homelessness.

Over the years the charity have developed a highly responsive early intervention and preventative model of service provision that aims to minimise as far as possible the number of households entering emergency accommodation.
