Western Alzheimers provides a complete service of care to families affected by Alzheimers/Dementia in the Western Region of Ireland.

Western Alzheimers is committed to delivering relevant and tangible care and support for people who suffer from Alzheimers Disease and their families.

We promote and seek to create a keen awareness of the nature and impact of Alzheimers Disease. We work closely with our partners & statutory health agencies to build on our pioneering endeavours in the planning and development of suitable facilities and models of care. We are guided and driven by our strong ethos of sharing the burden of care with those who most need our help.

Charity Overview :

Western Alzheimers supports hundreds of families with a “home from home” philosophy ensuring that people who suffer from Alzheimers Disease are cared for in a safe and comfortable environment. Our comprehensive service model offers families a choice of care supports and facilities including Long Stay Residential Care; Respite Care; Day Care and In-Home Care in the community. Our facilities in Athenry Co. Galway and Ballindine Co. Mayo currently lead the way with further developments planned for Galway and Roscommon in the near future. Finance is generated through its own fundraising activities, complimented by both State and philanthropic contributions.

Charity History :

Western Alzheimers was founded in 1994. Since then the Organisation has been providing person-centered services in a flexible way. Western Alzheimers has pioneered a new culture of dementia care with a series of groundbreaking and visionary initiatives. Vast experience and a practical knowledge of needs of dementia sufferers have been built up by a long serving and dedicated workforce.

Where Your Money Goes :

Funds raised support the ongoing care provision activities of Western Alzheimers, principally, Long Stay Residential Care, Respite Care, Day Care and In-Home Support Service.
