Right now we urgently need your support for the following:

The Mercy Cancer Appeal - €876,000

In our small country 30,000 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed by the end of this year. For those people in Munster diagnosed with cancer, The Mercy will be at the forefront of diagnosis, research, treatment and care. We will be Leading the Fight Against Cancer.

Funds you donate will support:

  • The Mercy Cancer Care Centre - you can help raise €261,000 for the new Cancer CARE Centre which will provide a quiet, safe place for patients and families to help them deal with their cancer diagnosis and support them during their cancer journey
  • The Regional Centre for Gastroenterology - The Mercy Hospital's Centre for Gastroenterology has been identified as one of the National Bowel Screening Centres and it is the Regional Centre for Cork, Kerry and Waterford. This purpose built state-of-the-art facility will lead the way in the diagnosis and treatment of patients affected by cancers of the Oesophagus, Stomach, Pancreas and Bowel.
  • Urology and Medical Oncology - help fund the Rapid Access Clinic for patients with cancers of the Prostate, Kidney, Bladder, Testes and Penis
  • Research - Mercy University Hospital is home to some of the leading cancer and heart doctors in Ireland and Europe. They want to research into the links between Genetics and the occurrence of cancer in families as well as funding a number of smaller research projects looking at cancers such as those of the Liver and Pancreas.

The Mercy Kids + Teens Appeal - €43,000

It is vital that when a child is ill, that they and their parents and siblings have access to the best care, facilities and support. Funds you donate will be invested in critical areas of our paediatric services. The Mercy has a 28 bed paediatrics ward that caters for both medical and surgical care, and we constantly strive to ensure that every child has a comfortable stay at The Mercy.

The Mercy provides dedicated paediatric inpatient medical and surgical care, neurology and disability care, haematology and oncology care as well as outpatient services.  The Mercy also provides a mobile service called POONS to administer treatment to children battling cancer in the child's home. Funds you donate will be invested in critical areas of the paediatric services including bereavement counselling and support for children costing €43,000.

The Mercy Stroke Appeal - € 100,000

Ten thousand people will suffer from a stroke this year, and unfortunately 2,000 will die as a result. Treating a stroke victim as quickly as possible is vital in saving lives and reducing disabilities. The Mercy Stroke unit is one of the leading facilities of its kind in Ireland. Funds donated by you will help fund essential equipment for both the diagnosis and treatment of stroke as well as resources for our speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy staff.
