Mayo Cancer Support Association

Mayo Cancer Support offers local community-based cancer support services to people affected by cancer - including cancer patients, family members, carers and close friends - throughout County Mayo and surrounding areas. Our main cancer support centre, Rock Rose House, is based in Castlebar - directly across from Mayo University Hospital and we also provide outreach services in Ballina and Achill.

We provide a range of services suitable for all age groups from young children to adults, all of which are provided free of charge and are dependent on the generosity of the public. Services we offer include:

  • Drop-in centre;
  • Professional counselling;
  • Complementary therapies including various types of massage, reflexology, bio-energy and relaxation;
  • Art therapy;
  • Play therapy for children and teenagers;
  • Group therapies including mindfulness, meditation, stress management, essence of well-being, yoga, creative writing, art therapy etc;
  • Various workshops and information evenings on cancer-related topics including lymphoedema, diet and nutrition, Look Good Feel Better etc;
  • Support groups;
  • Bereavement support;
  • Cancer survivors' choir;
