The Irish Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (IUSRU) is a non-profit making organisation which is a registered charity within the Republic of Ireland with Charity Number � CHY20132. Our primary aim is to provide highly qualified Search and Recovery Divers to search for missing persons underwater nationwide within our rivers, canals, lakes and off our coasts. We are solely funded by voluntary donations and do not receive any government support.

We do this in two ways, through Side-scan Sonar Mapping and through Scuba Diving. Both systems complement eachother as we would normally use our Side Scan Sonar to cover large areas and and then use our Search and Recovery Divers to investigate anomolies seen on the side-scan image.
