Dublin Lions Club

The Lions Club International has been serving our communities globally for over 100 years now and now spans 210 countries and more than 1.4million members world wide.

Our Dublin Lions Club, was made part of this global mission over 60 years ago and we now have more than 40 active members. Similar to all the clubs world, wide we are aligned to the global Lions Club 5 Pillars or Service:

1) Diabetes - "We serve to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve quality of life for those diagnosed." As part of our Clubs activities every year, we organise a Diabetes Awareness screening across the city to help raise awareness, help people get a proper diagnosis where needed and get them to a treatment that can save lives.

2) Vision - "We serve to prevent avoidable blindness and improve quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired." Every year we collect unwanted glasses and support the cause for providing glasses to those less fortunate across our country.

3) Hunger - "We serve to ensure all community members have access to nutritious foods." Our Club every year takes part in multiple services, fundraisers and events to support this mission. To name a few, we have a yearly Food Appeal across many supermarkets in the city, we have 2 yearly events in Erics Party and also Hope Fest during which we feed hundreds of Dublins homeless.

4) Environment - "We serve to sustainably protect and restore our environment to improve the well-being of all communities." This is a new initiative across Lions International and also for our Club but we are comitted to educating ourselves and our community on how we can protect and restore our environment as best and as quick as possible.

5) Childhood cancer and hardships - "Lions provide support for the needs of children and families affected by childhood cancer through impactful service activities." Our Club has an established relationship with Larkin College in the City centre taking this mission further to support children and their families going through hardships in general.
