I am a mum of four children .Two of my children have autism .Autism is a Spectrum condition .It is a collection of many different disorders .Many who dont have a child or know someone with autism often think that that autism is simply catergorised into mild moderate or severe. This isnt really the case. You can have a child who is verbal but has major problems with social function and sensory problems .Or you could have a child who is non verbal who may not have as ay issues with Sensory problems
Children and Adults on the Spectrum have a range of areas they may need help in
Problems for many affected by autism includes
*communication disorders eg delayed language or no verbal skills
*Social interaction
*sensory processing disorder
*Dyspraxia,low muscle tone.developmental co-ordination disorder
*Safety Awareness
*A Person with autism does not look any different form their peers and ofegtn called the 'hidden disability'
There were many famous people with Autism .A person with Autism jas a different way at looking at the world. They are entitled to be and are as much a part of society and you or me.My children who have autism have taught me I feel even more that I can teach themThey are loving .They dont understand why someone would want to be mean. They are intellegent.Autism does not affect intellegence but it does mean for my boys that I have to translate the world for them. They are bright beautiful boys who given the right supports will contribute to society when they are adults .My 7 yr old has gone form being non verbal to starting to learn his way through language .He has a long way to go but he is determined and stubborn
