180th Lucan South Scout Group

180th Lucan South Scouts provide scouting for approx 100 young people from the Lucan area. We have a Beaver Scout colony, a Cub pack, a Scout Troop and a Venture Scout Unit, this encourages boys and girls from the age of 6 to learn new skills and develop into responsible members of the community.

Scouting is a non-profit, community based movement for young people aged 6 to 25. We aim to develop our youth members into responsible and valuable members of society through a progressive system utilising the scout method where young people work in partnership with adults to achieve their aims.

We are the 180th Dublin Lucan South Scout Group, part of the Scouting Ireland Association, serving young people in Lucan South, Dublin.
The group was originally formed in 1989 as the 180th Dublin Balgaddy CBSI group and had a total of 24 youth members. We now have 23 adult leaders (Trained volunteers & Garda vetted) and 93 youth members in our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venture sections.

Since its inception in 1989, the 180th Dublin Scout group has met in The Bush Centre Balgaddy. This year, thanks to the generosity of the St. Laurence O’Toole Trust, we have become the owners of the Bush Centre (site and existing building). A condition of the transfer of ownership is that we rebuild The Bush Centre as a Scout Den / Community Centre for the people of Lucan South within the next 3 years.
Your donation will help us achieve this goal.
