Instruments of Peace

Instruments of Peace is a small organisation founded on a big dream.  It was founded in Dublin by a group of seven professionals from different countries in Europe and Asia.  The big dream was that of achieving World Peace, one Peace initiative at a time.  The initiatives start from interior change, spiritual work, community building, to collective action, societal change and global collaboration.  The dream is deeply personal but truly universal.  For ten years from the time of its inception in 2000, Instruments of Peace dedicated themselves to personal spiritual formation, inter-generational community-building and small in-house celebrations in their Peace Centre in Dublin.  Through the years university scholars and various professionals have lived as members of the Peace Centre community led by Rosemarie Lucero and Fr. Heinrich Barlage, SVD.

In the year 2010, Instruments of Peace took their first major leap:  They brought out into the open their dedication to the United Nations' International Day of Peace which is celebrated every year on the 21st of September.  Their first public event was a unique International Peace Concert composed of 150 performers, a brainchild of Rosemarie Lucero, entitled: "Four Seasons of Peace".  A 60-minute video was created out of the Peace Concert and is made available for FREE to anyone who wishes to have it.

In 2011 a visit from the United Nations to Dublin by the Co-Chair of the International Day of Peace for NGOs, Deborah Moldow, gave a major boost to the initiatives of Instruments of Peace. They produced two major events following Deborah Moldow's visit: an International Peace Conference on 21stSeptember and a "World Peace Party" on 16th December 2011 at the iconic Convention Centre Dublin where they gathered a total of 2000 peace-loving people from more than 15 nationalities.

It is the dream of Instruments of Peace that the whole island of Ireland, north and south, will celebrate the UN International Day of Peace every year in an ever growing, self-sustaining, game-changing and fun-filled festival of initiatives from all sectors of society beginning with the children, students and artists and involving the highest levels of the government, church and society.

This year, 2012, Instruments of Peace want to create the first World Peace Weekend Festival in Ireland from 21st to 23rd September 2012.  For these, they will need a lot of financial support and for this purpose this page in iDonate is created so passionate peace-loving people can help fundraise.
