Glencree Centre for Peace & Reconciliation

The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation works to achieve peace through dialogue and building relationships of trust between those in conflict. Established 1974, Glencree played an important role in the Northern Ireland peace process bringing the warring sides together for dialogue.

Today, we work with individuals and communities impacted by conflict including victims/survivors, combatants, women, refugee and migrant communities, and other vulnerable minorities. As well as our ongoing work on the island of Ireland, our perspective and expertise has been shared in more than ten conflict and post-conflict countries around the globe.

The money you raise will help us continue our vital peacebuilding work with individuals and communities impacted by conflict. This includes our work with:

  • individuals and groups who have been traumatised by the Northern Ireland 'Troubles'
  • women from disadvantaged communities, particularly those who experience social exclusion, isolation and marginalisation
  • migrants, refugees and members of ethnic and faith minority communities to help them integrate into and contribute to Irish society
  • students and young adults in the area of peace education on a cross border, north-south basis
  • over 10 war-torn countries around the world sharing our lessons from the Irish peace process.

By choosing to support Glencree, you are saying YES TO PEACE!

The Glencree Centre for Peace & Reconciliation is an international hub for conflict resolution and promoting sustainable peace. We specialise in inclusive dialogue, mediation, negotiation and peace education. We are an Irish-based, independent, non-governmental organisation based in Glencree in the Wicklow mountains.

Founded in 1974 in response to the conflict in Northern Ireland, Glencree played an important role in the Irish Peace Process, bringing together those in conflict for confidential dialogue and helping to build relationships across divides. Glencree’s early efforts were dedicated, in a non-partisan way, to supporting the resolution of violent political conflict at home. We have since shared our learnings and experience of the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement, its implementation and consequences in over 10 conflict and post-conflict countries around the globe.
