Eimear Noonan Music Bursary

In 2018, a fundraising initiative called Carpe Diem was launched in the form of a live concert performance in the town of Gort, Co. Galway. Carpe Diem is now an annual event to honour the memory of Eimear Noonan who died tragically in France in November 2017. Eimear's family have set up The Eimear Music Bursary. The Eimear Music Bursary partnered with local organisation Coole Music & Arts ( to produce the 2018 and 2019 Carpe Diem concerts. The success of these concerts (which were called Carpe Diem 2018 and 2019) brought about the Eimear Noonan Memorial Bursary; which provided bursaries of €1,000 to 3rd level students from counties Clare and Galway in 2019 and 2020. We are hoping to once again continue to provide these bursaries to students in order to support them during their studies.

The Carpe Diem concerts in 2018 and 2019 celebrated music in all its colours, spanning the classical, orchestral, trad, folk and rock genres. Performing on the nights were Coole Music Youth Orchestras, UCC Orchestra, Gort Community School Choirs and ensembles, along with a number of Eimear's close friends in music. The concerts were a wonderful collaboration between many talented performers, with all proceeds going to supporting music education for young people in Counties Galway and Clare.

The 2019 winners of the Bursary were Grace Campbell from Co. Galway and Crea O'Sullivan from Co. Clare. Two additional bursaries for Excellence in Music were awarded to Eoghan Power and Shonagh Farrell. The 2020 bursary award winners will be announced in November 2020.

The Noonan family reserves the right to bestow other deserving bursaries, as they arise.

To date the funds raised have supported the Eimear Noonan Music Bursary Awards; Coole Music & Arts; Gort Community School Musical; UCC Orchestra and other music performances by young people in the community.
