Eight year old Holly McAlinney from Knocknacarra was diagnosed with Leukaemia at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.  A childhood cancer diagnosis is hard at any time but the Covid-19 restrictions have made this particularly hard.  She is currently in the middle of her treatment and while her medical team are extremely positive about her prognosis it hasn't been plain sailing, she spent most of the summer 2020 in and out of Crumlin Children's Hospital intensive care unit with ulcers in her duodenum, they have also discovered that the Leukaemia has left her with no sight in her left eye.  Fundraising efforts are ongoing to help her family through the financial burden of her battle (as her mother had to leave her job as a Montessori teacher to provide full time care to Holly) and in the hope that medical advancements will help her in the future to regain some of the sight in her eye.  Holly is a bouncy, confident and joyful child who loves Camogie and hopes to be able to get back on the field again one day soon.
