Brand Blarney

Our current project is working with Cork City Council to enhance the Clogheenmilcon Fen in Blarney. We hope to promote the Fen for eco-tourism and encourage visitors to Blarney to stay longer thereby helping to support the local economy. We also anticipate increased awareness of the Fen as a safe outdoor space to enjoy nature.

overview

Brand Blarney was established in 2016 to further develop the ‘Blarney’ Brand and implement initiatives that support the local economy while remaining true to Blarney’s Architectural Conservation Status.

The ‘Brand Blarney’ primary focus is to facilitate the larger Blarney community to contribute to an already established tourist attraction in a manner that enhances its status as a global brand and boosts the local economy. Brand Blarney works with the local community so that they are the key stakeholders in giving visitors a reason to stay longer and spend more in the locality.

where your money goes

To date the fundraising/grants received have gone to upgrading pavements, replacing broken seatings, adding accessible picnic benches in the main car park, upgrading the main car park, creating some planting areas in two of the car parks, cutting back undergrowth and creating a new, safer entrance on the west side.

Future tasks include creating a boardwalk, landscaping, building an amphitheater, creating research pods, a bird-watching platform and building an information centre.
