Tramore Sea Rescue Association

Tramore Sea Rescue Association is a voluntary organisation that provides 24/7 lifeboat and safety cover in Tramore Bay.

TSRA was the first inshore rescue service in Ireland and currently is a declared Coastguard Resource which responds to 999 / 112 emergencies at sea.

overview

Tramore Sea Rescue is a community lifeboat which has been funded and operated by and for the people of Tramore.

Following a terrible tragedy in August, 1962 when three young men lost their lives in Tramore Bay, locals joined together to try to ensure that a lifeboat was available in Tramore Bay.

Sixty years later the crew of Tramore Sea Rescue are still available 24/7 365 days a year.

Our current lifeboat is 20 years old and having given sterling service in Tramore Bay over these years it is in need of replacement.

We are fundraising to enable us to continue to offer this service to our community. We require a new engine, navigation equipment, electronics and updated PPE for our volunteers to respond safely to emergencies at sea.

Our lifeboat also offers safety cover for community events on the water.

We would appreciate any support that the community can give to allow us to reach our goal. Many thanks,

Tramore Sea Rescue Association Management and Crew

Our lifeboat is coming to the end of it's life. We need to purchase a  new engine, electronics, navigation equipment and personal protective equipment to ensure our volunteers have the necessary equipment to provide our voluntary service.

history

Founded in 1963 Tramore Sea Rescue Association has been providing a lifeboat service to the community of Tramore for 60 years. Three young men lost their lives when their canoe overturned in August 1962 in heavy seas. There was no lifeboat in Tramore BAy to attempt to assist them in their hour of need. Locals who had been involved in searching for the young men joined together to establish the service to ensure a similar tragedy didn't happen again. The local community rallied around and fundraised for a lifeboat, it's first of it's kind in Ireland. The lifeboat went on to save countless lives. Some of those members are no longer with us. Many maintain close links to the organisation with family members serving as management and crew. We honour them all by continuing their pioneering volunteering.
