My sister became a mammy to 2 precious babies on 23rd March 2018. Sadly baby Liam was born sleeping. Baby Grace spent 31 precious minutes breathing on her mammys chest before she joined her big brother. It was at this time that our family was introduced to the wonderful charity feileacain. As soon as Liam and Grace were born the hospital provided my sister and her husband with a memory box filled with everything Liam and Grace needed. Hand knitted blankets, a memory card to capture those first special moments, lip balm, teddies, information and advice.....they thought of everything! Because of feileacain they got to spend every precious minute of Liam and Grace's time here, 3 special days to make a lifetime of memories. They provided a cuddle cot for their time in hospital and for the 2 days they spent at home surrounded by their loving family. A lady travelled to their home on the Saturday, set up the cuddle cot and made clay prints of Liam and Grace's beautiful hands and feet. This is a special memory all our family got to share with Liam and Grace and for that we will always be so grateful. The wonderful people in feileacain are bereaved parents, they give their time so generously to help families through the worst time imaginable. They receive no state funding and rely solely on donations. We will be doing the mini marathon this year to honour Liam and Grace and to thank feileacain for all the support they provide to bereaved parents and their families. If you can afford to make a small donation (anything at all is much appreciated) to this wonderful charity I know how much help it provides. Thank you xx

About the Cause
Féileacáin (Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Support)
Why the name FéileacáinA Butterfly lights besides us like a sunbeam …Many of the ancient civilizations believed that butterflies were symbols of the human soul, and in Irish mythology the butterflies, or ‘Féileacáin’, are said to be the spirits of the departed who return to visit their favorite place and their loved ones to reassure them that they are alright.
