"Inside Looking Out"
Inside looking out, in my head I hear a shout,
Please God let me out.
Covid came and messed life up,
I’m just tired and so fed up.
I want to visit my family dear,
Because of Covid they can’t come near.
I see them as they drive by or sit in their cars,
It makes me cry.
I only want to hug them all,
I promise, just a little hug, that’s all.
My carers are the best to me,
I bake, sew and knit with glee.
I colour pictures, that’s my pride,
But my sadness sometimes I cannot hide.
Drives in the bus, walks in the park,
but always home before dark.
Masks all day are hard to wear, but I feel it’s all so unfair.
My hands are washed a million times each day,
I’m told that helps keep Covid away.
The summer passed, I enjoyed the sun,
But all I wanted was some family fun.
Halloween is here and I’m still alone.
My heart is broken I can’t visit home.
Winter is drawing in and the time will change,
Covid’s back with a mighty rage.
I’m sad, I’m sad and miss my family,
I’d love to visit them, oh so calmly.
I do pray to Mam & Dad to keep me safe and not be sad.
I wish, I wish, just to be free,
A hug, a kiss, a cuddle for me.
My family love me, that I know.
Each day they phone me and tell me so.
Christmas is coming down the track, the spread of Covid must go back.
Please all, do what must, in God above put your trust.
I’m inside looking out, can someone hear my silent shout?
Covid please go away, I need to visit home for just one day.
I’m inside, looking out.
