As our Dad's 4th Anniversary approaches on August 22nd we The Tucker Family wish to fundraise for the OCF in memory of our dad Donal and his brother Eddie who has also recently lost his battle to Oesophageal Cancer. A battle they both bravely Borne. Dad fought bravely for 9 months post his initial diagnosis in November 2017. He underwent Chemotherapy , Radiotherapy and finally surgery but unfortunately he lost his battle in August 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. We could not have taken Dad home without the assistance of his GP , the PHN and the palliative care team and night nurses. We will be forever grateful for the 12 days we had Dad at home before he passed away. It was his wish to die at home and we were grateful we could grant it for him. My mother Eileen , myself Olivia my brothers Denis and Gavin , daughter in laws Amelia , Rosie & Tracy , son in law Ger and Donal's 7 much loved grandchildren will complete the Remember in September Challenge and as a family " Do it for Donal ! " Oesophageal cancer effects more than 500 people per year with Ireland having the highest rates of Oesophageal cancer in Europe. Oesophageal cancer symptoms can be easily overlooked and dismissed therefore by the time patients are diagnosed it could be too late for one to recover. We would appreciate if you could kindly donate to our fundraiser in memory of our Dad and therefore assist in the research of Oesophageal cancer. By donating you will assist us in completing our Remember in September Challenge and in turn "Do it For Donal !"
As the saying goes :
"Cancer is a marathon- you can't look at the finish line. You take it moment by moment, sometimes breath by breath , other times step by step. "
So please join us in our marathon this September in memory of our Dear Dad Donal.
