It is with deep regret that we must inform you of the closure of New Inn playground. In October, Galway Co Co closed the playground, deeming it unfit and unsafe for children. Many items, as you may know, are damaged with rot.
Seventeen years ago, a formidable group of locals set up the first playground committee. Many of us may remember the great night of entertainment when the Sawdoctors played in the Community Center. At the time, the cost of the playground was approx €175,000. The money raised by the locals back then has served our community well over the last 17 years.
We believe that the cost today to repair and replace the various items in the playground, along with the necessary ground works, to be in the region of more than €200,000. We also hope to improve the facilities, making it more wheelchair friendly and include items for children with additional needs, such as sensory boards.
As of now, we are looking into funds/grants available to us. Galway Co Co do not fund any repairs or purchase any equipment. We must, once again, turn to our small community for help.

No one wants to see New Inn playground left in a state of disrepair and become an eye sore in the locality. We all want a lovely playground where our children can play happily and most importantly, safely. This will not happen without your help and generosity.
