Leckaun National School

St. Mary’s National School, Leckaun was opened in 1958 in the scenic Newtownmanor district of North Leitrim. Since 2019 the school has undergone a number of improvements including a new soft play area, high speed broadband, teaching resources and more recently improved parking facilities, pedestrian access gates.

All of these improvements would not have been possible without the dedication of our wonderful staff, Board of Management, Parents’ Association and the indeed the wider Newtownmanor Community.

The most recent project is the MULTI USE GAMES AREA (MUGA) Astro Surface Pitch Fundraiser and we have set up this page to generate much needed funds to support our school continue to thrive well into the future.

Our school was fortunate to have been awarded €57, 140 partial funding for this community facility via a successful application for Sports Capital Funding Grant at Leckaun National School - on site locally known as 'The Bank' which is a sloped pitch to the rear of the main school building and school yard.

In order to draw down on these funds from the Sports Capital Grant our school is required to provide match funding of c.€42, 860.

Currently we have a Lotto Fundraiser "The Leckaun Lotto" which allocates half of all funds raised to the Multi Surface Community Astro Surface Pitch and half to school activities such as school events and resources as outlined on our school fundraising page / the School Website / School Blog and via social media such as

Another recent local Fundraiser wasPaul's 4Reek Challenge via GoFundMe in early July 2023. We thank local fitness enthusiast and community member Paul McDermott for his support for our school and our parish - Happy Birthday Paul!

Fásann níos mó i ngort ná mar a chuirtear ann.

Help our school community continue to flourish!
