Strand Theatre 925 Challenge
11th January-14th February 2021
COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on the arts. The Strand Theatre has been closed since last March, almost 6000 hours with: No singing, no dancing, no rehearsing, no performing, no Academy, but more importantly and unfortunately with no income. Despite several applications grants have been refused with various excuses. Without an end in sight and not being allowed to return to what we do best, we now unfortunately need to fundraise to meet ongoing recurring expenses; even while the doors of the theatre remain closed due to restrictions.
Hence the Strand Theatre 925 Challenge
Each Team having a minimum of 6 people ( max 10 ) to walk or run a combined distance of nine hundred and twenty-five km, that’s only on average 5km per person per day. Yes, “9 to 5” km. That will be a combined effort from the Society and Friends of almost 6000km, 1 km for every hour the theatre has been shut. It is not a competition, or a race. It is a challenge for each team member while doing good for themselves and helping to keep out theatre alive and open.
