Our daughter Katie is 7 years old and attends 1st class in St. Gabriels N.S. Kilconnell. At the age of four, Katie was diagnosed with autism. She suffers on a daily basis with behavioural difficulties, emotional difficulties and she is totally unaware of danger. Katie has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy, with her having multiple seizures daily. At the moment, this is not controllable with her current medication. Katie is attending Crumlin Childrens Hospital on an ongoing basis.
Going forward, Katie will require an Assistance Guide Dog to help her with overcoming her daily struggles and obstacles - her lack of awareness for danger, her seizures and her behavioural issues. An Assistance Dog is a highly skilled dog trained for Katie's requirements.
We now have to raise the money for Katie's Assistance Dog training, with the raised proceeds going to "My Canine Companion" for this purpose. We hope that the generosity of people and of fundraisers will help to raise the €5000 needed for the training of Katie's dog. Any help and donations will be greatly appreciated.
