In early December 2016 my sister buried her 1st son Ben. Ben was only 5 days old when he died. In his memory I have decided to run the Quest Quadrathon in August. The Quest Quadrathon is a multi day race. I will be running the half marathon version. This mean I will be running 4 half marathons in 4 days The event takes place in August in Malin Co. Donegal from the 17th to 20th August.
As part of this I hope to fundraise €3,000 for Féileacáin. I picked this figure as I want to try and raise the cost of a cuddle cot. A cuddle cot is a device that is placed into the crib. It works to keep the baby cold and delays the start of the body degrading. This allows families to spend a few more days with the body and keeps it looking well for the funeral. Féileacáin were there for my sister in providing them with a cuddle cot aswell as giving them a memory box for the keepshakes they have of Ben. They also gave my neices little teddys that read sisters of an angel. So to thank them for their help I wanted to fundraise for them. Since people think I spend my life running the streets a running challenge seemed apt. I wanted to make sure it was one that would challenge me so thats why I picked this one.
I have also sold some sponsorship spaces on a specially made singlet for the event.
I would also like to thank the business who have sponsored these spaces.
These are:
Haydon Chartered Accountants
Firgrove Hotel Mitchelstown
Alan Nolan Motors Celbridge
Malin Hotel
Motivations Fitness Ireland
Any donation and suppport people can give to this challenge will be greatly apprecaited.
Thanks Philip
