THE IHF CAMINO WALK 2017 - IN MEMORY OF OUR FATHER JAMES SNEE
Hi everyone,
If you have clicked into this page, then thank you for taking the first step in helping us complete our journey. We are hoping to raise vital funds for the Irish Hospice Foundation by asking people to sponsor us to walk the Camino. The walk will take seven days and we will walk for approximately 20 kilometres a day. It takes place on September 24th 2017 (our birthday – no pressure) and ends October 1st 2017.
For those of you who don’t know the reason we choose to sign up for the event it is because of our dad. Unfortunately, he passed away on May 21st 2015 from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma so we understand first-hand the importance of providing palliative care.
Our Father loved walking especially with his side kick Bella (our beloved family pet aka the baby) and often joked that the dog was better known than we were! (I think he may have been right!). We hope to raise €3,400 for IHF which will be the total for both of us! Ideally, we would love to raise as much as possible but if you could help us out in reaching our target we would be delighted!
Just to give you a snippet of what the Irish Hospice Foundation is all about: The Irish Hospice Foundation is your national charity dedicated to all matters relating to dying, death and bereavement in Ireland. They receive a small amount of core funding from the State so rely on your generosity and support to keep their services going.
They are working hard on our behalf for the best end-of-life care and bereavement support for all. The problem is, this is not available for everyone, when they need it, where they need it.
So, without debate a very worthy cause! It is very rare that you meet somebody these days who hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way or another. We alone have had both parents battle cancer but unfortunately in my father’s case it came back with vengeance and despite putting up one hell of a fight, cancer won out in the end!!
I know it’s only a drop in the ocean but if we can raise the funds we can at least help in some small way to ensure the services IHF provide can continue to operate!
The second step which we are hoping you take will be to donate which in return will help the Irish Hospice Foundation provide vital services throughout the country.
I know that some of our friends are overseas or have no connection to Ireland accept that you made friends with a girl travelling in your country (by your own free will or NOT! LoL). If you can we hope you will still donate and that if you need our help in the future and we can we will gladly return the favour.
Finally just to say that we cannot stress how grateful we are to all of the people who have supported us over the past few years and who didn’t laugh when we said we were going to do the walk! (It’s not exactly our usual hobby!). Thank you for understanding the importance of this walk to us and the personal reasons for doing this. But most of all thanks for being friends we can rely on!!
So please donate!!
