A few weeks ago, I signed up for Runamuck, which takes place on the 11th of March. Those who know me will know that it's totally out of character to sign up to something like this. Over the past few days I decided I was going to pull out of the whole thing - running is like torture to me, and that's without the obstacles, the mud and the crowds of people.
I decided the only way I was not going to pull out and hand my place to someone else was if I tied it in with something selfless. So I am hoping to raise funds for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust - an exceptional charity organisation which helps to alleviate the financial pressure of bereaved families trying to bring home the bodies of their loved ones who suddenly and tragically passed away abroad.
Sadly, this is something my boyfriend's family have had to go through recently when his beloved father, Austin Brennan, passed away, and KBRT where an absolute pillar during this most difficult time. Not only did they help to ease the financial pressure, they also organised Austin's journey home, and for that we are all endlessly grateful.
So, instead of pulling out of Runamuck, I am going to do it in his honour, even if I am the last person to cross the finish line (which I think I will be)- even though he would probably laugh at the very idea of running around a muddy obstacle course (I can hear him asking why anyone bother doing such a thing!). I would appreciate even the smallest donation to help raise funds for this amazing organisation that helps so many families in one of the worst situations imaginable. Thank you in advance.
