To say our world was blown apart really is an understatement. While I suspected it for a long time when a psychologist actually speaks those words to you its like hearing or suspecting it for the very first time. It was a devastiating blow and not how myself and my husband Derek had envisaged our life with children. It was an extremely difficult time as we were also only 4 weeks away from the arrival of our second child, Morgan.
Thorughout the whole process and shortly after the diagnosis no matter what specialist/theraprist we spoke to ‘Snowflakes’ was always mentioned. I decided to make contact with the team at Snowflakes and have never looked back. They are a support group for parents, sibligs and children affected by ASD. As a result of their unwavering support to us and many many other families going through the same situation as us I have decided to bite the bullet and take part in my very first mini marathon and raise some much needed funds for Snowflakes to assist them in continuing the great work they do.
