This year is the 20th anniversary of the Calcutta run. In the the past 20 years the Calcutta run has raised almost €4M to support homeless youths in Dublin and Calcutta through the Peter McVerry Trust and The Hope Foundation
The Hope Foundation is dedicated to promoting the protection of street and slum children in Calcutta and the most underprivileged in India. HOPE works to effect immediate and lasting change in their lives.
Peter McVerry Trust provides a wide range of services including homeless and housing services, drug treatment and detox services, as well as under-18 residential services to the homeless in Dublin.
Last year over 1,200 people took part in raising an incredible €230,000. This year the aim is to raise €300,000 which will take the total amount raised to over €4M!

Peter McVerry Trust is committed to reducing homelessness and the harm caused by drug misuse and social disadvantage. Peter McVerry Trust provides low-threshold entry services, primarily to younger persons with complex needs, and offers pathways out of homelessness based on the principles of the Housing First model and within a framework that is based on equal opportunities, dignity and respect.
Celebrating 25 Years of HOPE
Set up in 1999 to raise funds for one girl’s home. Today The Hope Foundation (HOPE) funds 58 projects in the areas of education, healthcare, child protection, vocational training and emergency response.
HOPE works primarily with the street & slum children of Kolkata (Calcutta) and the subsequent difficulties that these children encounter. The estimated population of street children in Kolkata is over 250,000. To date HOPE has helped over 2.
