In August 2006 I lost my father Michael to Motor Neurone Disease. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurological condition that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching the muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting and as there is currently there is no cure this means the disease is fatal.
The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is the only organisation of its kind providing care and support to people with Motor Neurone Disease, their families, friends and carers.
This year I will be running, jogging, walking and in the end possibly crawling the Cork City marathon to raise some much need funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
