EYMF are a group of young people we have worked with for a number of years now. They are primarily young refugees who arrived to Ireland without their parents or a legal guardian (unaccompanied children). A lot of their work has involved making complicated information more accessible for young people going through the asylum process. Last year, due to the increase of refugees arriving to Ireland they decided to start up the Youth Café as a supportive peer to peer space for young people who have been or who are going through the asylum process. They meet every second week, sometimes for socialising or a movie and other times for workshops and training. They have had over 40 Youth Cafés now and 38 young people are involved.
The Irish Refugee provides services and support to refugees and people seeking asylum in Ireland. We also advocate for improvements in the asylum procedure, reception conditions and in relation to Ireland’s engagement with EU refugee policy.
