It is a little over a year ago now that we got the devastating news that Steven’s cancer was incurable. To say he borne the illness bravely is such an understatement. Steven was so strong throughout his battle and I am so unbelievably proud of him. Steven never once gave out or complained at any stage. He only asked one thing of me and that was to die at home. Story
We had truly hoped that situation would have been a long time in the future but unfortunately that was not to be and Steven lost his battle on 4th April this year. One tiny bit of solace I can take from it all is that he did pass away at home. Put simply, this would not have been at all possible without the amazing support we received from the Galway Hospice. I could write an essay on the support we received from the team throughout all of Steven’s illness and since his passing but I’ll just say they were great and honoured Steven’s last request.
On 10th September 2017 The Galway Hospice are holding their annual Memorial Walk and myself and a few *friends & family* will be doing it in memory of Steven. I know there are so many worthy causes out there, but if you have a few Euro to spare and would like to put it to a good cause, please sponsor us through the link below. I know it is no Ultra Marathon 😊 but anything in memory of Steven is worth it to me.
Thanks all,
love Niamh, Shay & Eoin
