Instead of a hen party, I’m planning on running a 5k this Sept in aid of the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association. If you might have offered to buy my a drink at a hen party, I’d love if you’d donate it instead! Motor Neurone Disease was described by the Sports Broadcaster Colm Murray as the 'PITS' – Progressive, Incurable & Terminal. The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only organisation of its kind in Ireland providing vital care and support to families living with this condition. MND affects everybody differently but usually the disease will result in a loss of independence. Every day things we take for granted like walking, talking and eating may become virtually impossible. The journey with MND is a series of losses. The IMNDA aims to alleviate frustration, fear and anxiety that is often felt by the whole family. The lovely team behind the St Annes weekly parkrun have offered to host us for the 5k. And if you fancy running or walking it too, you only need to sign up for parkrun and bring your barcode on the day! (Anyone who has been to a parkrun will know it’s very friendly and no one gets shamed for going slow). Whether you join in or not, I would be very grateful for any donations to support this wonderful charity and the work that they do. All donations to IMNDA. We’ll have coffee and cake afterwards in the Red Stables.

About the Cause
Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association
The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is the only organisation of its kind in the country providing specialised services to families affected by this terminal condition.
The Association cannot slow the progression of MND or change the outcome but we can alleviate the feelings of isolation and frustration. We offer consistent support to approximately 450 families across Ireland who otherwise would have nowhere else to turn. Everybody with MND has different needs at different stag
