Motor Neurone Disease (MND)  is life changing . It is a progressive neurological condition that attacks the motor neurones or nerves in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching the muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.  It can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. The cause of MND is not known and there is no cure for MND.    The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is the only organisation of it's kind in Ireland. They work on behalf of people living with MND and their families and carers. They provide home visits with nurses financial assistance and the supply of specialised equipment for loan. They promote research into the causes and treatment of MND.
