Marymount University Hospital & Hospice is a healthcare facility which provides respite care, intermediate palliative care and continuing care for older people. Marymount Hospice provides care to patients with progressive illness, both cancer and non-cancer, at a time when pain or other symptom issues need addressing. Marymount is the designated Specialist Care Centre for the Cork/Kerry region serving a population of approximately 600,000.

Marymount is one of the charities to be supported by the cycle fundraiser, an event which has raised over €675,000 since 1991. Not bad for a fun event!

This year’s charity cycle follows the general route of the Bandon and South Coast Railway which closed in 1961 and the name of the event has changed from the Carrigaline Lions Cycle Classic to The Great Railway Cycle. Over its 25 year history, the event has raised more than €675,000 for charity.

The Great Railway Cycle 2017 takes place on Saturday, 30th September.
•The cycle is a one-day event with distance options of 60km and 100km
•Starting and finishing in Carrigaline at the Youth Centre
•Starting time 10am (Check-in open from 9am)
•100km Route: Carrigaline – Innishannon – Bandon – Ballinspittle - Timoleague – Balinascarthy – Bandon – Inishannon – Carrigaline
