Having gone through cancer treatment in 2015, I was very much struck by the fear and anxiety one is faced with when first diagnosed and during the treatment itself. You wake up every day with a heavy sense of uncertainty. . So many emotions and such uncertainty. And I recognised this same fear in the eyes of others I met who were facing the same battle and their families. Its a highly pressurised and scary time.
Aoibheanns Pink Tie “National Children’s Cancer Charity” (https://aoibheannspinktie.ie/about-us/) is a charity that supports children (and their families) during their battle with cancer. They provide practical, emotional and financial fall back allowing the family to focus on their wellbeing, their support of each other, and the treatment of their child helping to ease some of the burden and take some of the anxiety away. Their support takes away the stress of practical but necessary activities such as looking for somewhere to stay, financial pressures and much more.
To help raise funds for Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, I will join the 'Kicking the Shite out of Breast Cancer' team during this year's annual strip and dip in Wicklow. Yes folks, I am going skinny dipping in the cold Irish Sea with a whole load of brave and wonderful woman this June. Oh and we also hope to break the Guinness World Skinny Dipping Record!!
I think that deserves a few bob, don't you? Wouldn't you pay highly to know I was actually freezing my ass off in the Irish sea? Cause it doesn't get warm even in June!!
So please help me raise funds for this wonderful cause by donating here online. Thank you so so much in advance x.
