Most people have been affected by cancer, whether it is a cherished family member, a friend, colleague or acquaintance it has come into people’s lives in one way or another. Our story is no different to anyone else’s, when our mother Muriel was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, it changed our life in a way that is hard to describe.
However, let’s look at the positives from our story, suddenly life with our mother became precious and we viewed it through a different lens, we got a sense of joy and celebration in the small things around us and found humour in situations that we may have overlooked before. We received support from friends, family and strangers and the magical energy from this remains with us long after the times of sadness and grief.
So.... following on with the humour theme, we've decided to run a 10K (hilarious!) and all funds raised will be donated to the wonderful Purple House Cancer Support who provided us with practical help and emotional support at a time when we needed it.
Purple House Cancer Support is to the forefront in providing a range of professional support services to people of all ages affected by Cancer in Ireland.
