** Update - Everest Base Camp Trek **
Hi All!
I'm happy to report that I successfully completed my trekking challenge and made it to Everest Base Camp on the 21st of April.
I started out the trek to base camp with my trekking group on April 14th - flying from Kathmandu to Lukla, Nepal and commenced day 1 of the trek on this day. It took 8 days of pretty much all uphill walking and aclimitising our bodies to the higher altitude to reach base camp. It was an amazing journey and the scenery all along the trekking route was pretty spectacular with colossal mountain ranges and differing terrains (hard to put into words and capture with pictures!). It was a great feeling when we arrived at Everest Base Camp - as the journey got more difficult as the days went by with the higher altitude & fatigue kicking in! It took a further 3 days of downhill trekking for our descent.
I have attached a picture of myself which was taken at Everest Base Camp on April 21st!
My fundraising page has recieved brilliant support - so I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone for each of your donations to Breakthrough Cancer Research - it is very much appreciated and is going towards a great cause.
Cheers!
Stephen

Hi all - thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
I will be participating in a 12 day trek to Everest Base Camp starting April 14th from Lukla, Nepal. I had initially booked this trek as a personal challenge but now see it as a great opportunity (along with your help!) to support and raise funds for the Irish cancer charity - Breakthrough Cancer Research.
Unfortunately cancer affects so many families today and research is critical. Breakthrough Cancer Research enable financial support for research into cancer in Ireland leading to more effective treatments for patients in Ireland and Internationally.
All proceeds raised will be donated to Breakthrough Cancer Research and your support would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Stephen

Breakthrough Cancer Research funds the efficient and effective development of new treatments for cancer. We work to significantly impact the number of people who can survive this disease. Research programmes funded by Breakthrough Cancer Research must focus on translating lab discoveries into new treatment opportunities. To this end we work closely with clinicians in practice all over Ireland so that our research is targeted at finding new options for poor prognosis and incurable cancers.
