The Dublin Women's Mini Marathon is very close to my heart. I completed the marathon in 2001 for Breast Cancer Research and two weeks after theevent I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Every year since then I have lined up at the start line as a salute to good health and wellbeing. In October 2017 I received a second diagnosis, Ovarian cancer on this occasion. I will complete my chemotherapy treatment at the end of April and with the support of my family and friends I hope to complete my 18th consequetive mini marathon on June 3rd.
The Eist cancer support centre opened its doors to public in 2012 and I am very proud to have been involved with this wonderful facility since the beginning. The centre continues to be run almost exclusively from voluntary fundraising so all money raised will go to help us continue to provide practical help and emotional support through a wide range of services to those in our community who need them.
