I have chosen Down Syndrom Ireland (DSI) as my charity because they do amazing work for people with Down syndrome. Having an uncle with Down syndrome, I understand the importance of the developments they are making which benefit people like him every day.

The money I raise will go towards the following --

• DSI's new 3-year Education Programme which includes Upskilling and Personal Development Programmes for teenagers and young adults with Down syndrome.
• The development of Latch On, DSI's literacy programme which is being developed with a number of organisations and institutions so that DSI can increase the number of people with Down syndrome that are in employment. Currently only 1% of people with Down syndrome are employed. DSI are working hard to ensure that there are more opportunities out there providing jobs and thereby increasing quality of life for those with Down syndrome.

Less than 8% of DSI’s overall income comes from grants and State funding. To continue providing their essential services, the remaining income needs to be raised through public fundraising efforts just like this.
