On June 3rd, I will be taking part in the Dublin Women's Mini-Marathon to raise funds for the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. The DRCC offers support and guidance to survivors of sexual assault, abuse, harassment and violence. Their services include a national 24-Hour helpline, one to one counselling, court accompaniment, outreach services, training, awareness raising and lobbying. The DRCC provide crucial support for those who need it. They are more than deserving of funding, and as an independent charity, are also desperately in need of it. All funds raised here will go directly to the DRCC!
The organisation carries out fantastic work that is unfortunately very necessary in Ireland today. According to their stats in 2016 nearly 500 people availed of their counselling services and a further 12,000 people contacted the DRCC helpline. Sexual assault and sexual violence are huge problems, and those who experience them are often left with very little in the way of resources and governmental support.
Please show solidarity with those who have been affected by these issues and donate whatever you can to the DRCC, they do absolutely fantastic work <3
