The Irish Hospice Foundation provides access to palliative care in hospices, hospitals, and at home, for people with terminal and life-limiting illnesses, including cancer, heart failure, dementia, respiratory diseases, and nerurological disease. The personal accounts of people who have required hospice services for loved ones, in particular the Geraghty family, have motivated me to raise funds for this charity, which has brought a measure of peace and relief to many experiencing difficult illnesses. I run in memory of my uncle, Joe Geraghty, and his warm welcomes, easygoing chats, and inspirational positivity during an arduous journey with cancer.
The target amount, €450, will enable the Hospice Foundation to train 10 nursing home staff in managing end-of-life care. For further details see https://hospicefoundation.ie/, and for funding and accountability details: https://hospicefoundation.ie/about-us/funding-governance-accountability/.
