This summer I am heading to Kolkata in India to volunteer in the Hope Children's Hospital with two of my fellow classmates. All three of us are passionate about paediatrics and are greatly looking forward to helping children in need. As medical students we are in the privileged position where learning about our craft also gives us the opportunity to help those from more disadvantaged areas and we jumped at the chance to experience medicine in an area where it's basic principles of providing better futures truly come to light. 

The Hope Foundation is a fantastic organisation working with street and slum children in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India. They work to free children and poor families from lives of pain, abuse, poverty and darkness. It is with this great charity and their Hospital in Kolkata with which we will be working for 4 weeks. We hope to help on the wards and in the theatres of the hospital and also experience time on the Hope Night Ambulance which provides medical services to the street children across the city of Kolkata after dark.

All donations to this page will go directly to the charity and will help continue their inspirational work.
