Hi, my name is Roger Brown, I'm a Decontamination Services Manager at the Northwest Independent hospital in Northern Ireland. I will be travelling to Hanoi, Vietnam in the spring of 2020 along with a team of medical professionals with the objective of carrying out as many hip and knee replacement surgeries to those members of the local community that otherwise would not have access to such life changing treatment. Together we will be representing the Operation Walk Ireland charity that was formed in 2016 and is an international branch of the original Operation Walk that was founded in Los Angeles in 1996.
Vietnam, like many developing countries, has seen rapid prosperity in recent times that has lead to a rise in overall life expectancy. This factor has seen a huge demand in the requirement for total hip and knee replacement surguries, something that despite the rise in affluency and living conditions is still considered too expensive for the average vietnamese resident.
To raise money for this great cause I intend to cycle solo from Mizen Head in County Cork to Fairhead County Antrim non stop in less than 24 hours!
I'm an avid cyclist and have been racking up the miles in the last few years so hopefully I will have a good basis to take on such a challenge.
The route will cover almost 600km with an accumulation of 3000m total elevation as I make my way through the heart of the country.
Im aiming for the weekend of the 13th/14th of April 2020, weather permitting which is just after my return from Hanoi so I certainly have a busy few weeks planned next spring!
So please give generously, all donations will be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thank You
Roger
Good luck on the 24hr cycle 💪💪💪
Good Luck, Roger!
