Walk for Haiti – Saturday 20th October - 2018
At 4.53pm on January 12th 2010, the small Caribbean island of Haiti was devastated by a powerful earthquake. 230,000 people died. 300,000 were injured. Over 1.5 million were displaced. An entire generation of Haitian children were left orphaned, homeless and vulnerable.
Haiti Orphanage Project ESPWA is an Irish NGO established in 2011 by a group of volunteers to support vulnerable children in Haiti. Working closely with local orphanages we build and rebuild, repair and restore – ensuring safety and sanitation as well as delivering valuable skills training to Haitian team members.
Haiti Orphanage Project ESPWA relies exclusively on public fundraising and does not receive any government funding. All the work we carry out is on a voluntary basis, with our team giving freely of their time and expertise. As a result, 100% of fundraising goes directly to our projects on the ground.
Walk with us for the children of Haiti
On Saturday October 20th we are doing a sponsored walk along the stunning Bray Head Cliff Walk to Greystones and back to Bray, with some much needed post-walk refreshments for all participants in Butler & Barry, Strand Road, Bray.
It’s an easy 7km walk each way and is one of the highlights of walking in Wicklow. This family-friendly route takes you from Bray to Greystones along a beautiful coastal path (see http://visitwicklow.ie/item/cliff-walk-bray-to-greystones/#). For those opting to walk just one-way there is always the cheaters option of returning by DART to Bray!
By raising a minimum of €100 in sponsorship from your friends, family or work colleagues you too can walk with and/or support us and help change the lives of some of Haiti’s most vulnerable children.
