CHEEERS: Developing Healthcare together is an Irish professional volunteer-sending charity, established in 2015. The charity works together with developing communities to improve healthcare, and to promote education and training of healthcare professionals.
Over the past number of years, CHEEERS has sent multidisciplinary teams to Kisiizi Hospital, in rural southwestern Uganda. These teams have worked with the local community to establish projects in areas such as Stroke, Surgery, Diabetes, Malnutrition and Mental Health, as well as providing education and resources to local staff.
Next April, I will travel with a multidisciplinary team of Irish healthcare professionals to Kisiizi Hospital. Some of you may know that I previously volunteered and completed an elective placement there in 2015 with UCDVO and UCD School of Physiotherapy. I am delighed to be returning to this fantastic community, and to bring the skills and knowledge I have been privileged to aquire through studying and working here in Ireland, to help improve and develop the brilliant services they already provide.
I would greatly appreciate any support you could generously give to support this brilliant and exciting initiative!
