The Vhi Women's Mini Marathon was due to take place on May 31st 2020. It’s so disappointing it can’t take place but hopefully it will come back bigger and better soon. 

You are all aware of how difficult it is for charities to raise much needed funds during this global crisis, so taking some inspiration and ideas from other campaigns, we thought we might run our own campaign over the next 5 weeks and raise some money for Cancer Clinical Research Trust.

“Do 5 and Donate 5 for Steph” #do5donate5forsteph

We are asking everyone to run (or walk) 5k in the next few weeks and donate a minimum of 5 euro to Cancer Clinical Research Trust. For those who aren’t able to run or walk there are lots of other options to do below. We are also very inclusive 😀 so want all the kids and men to get involved too. It’s about having a bit of fun and raising much needed funds at the same time. As we all know, Steph was a huge supporter of the work CCRT are doing and she would have been very proud to know that we are continuing that support on her behalf.🌈

Some ideas below (but feel free to be as creative as you want, and please don’t forget to donate).
• Run or walk 5k
• Walk around your garden for 5 minutes
• Sprint tests with the kids for 5 minutes (to be honest, any activity the kids do for 5 minutes non stop is a plus 😀)
• Any type of exercise for 5 minutes (jumping jacks, lunges, push ups, walking up and down the stairs).
• The kids could draw or paint pictures of rainbows and include #do5donate5forsteph (ask the kids for ideas too ).🌈

Next steps:
1. Whatever you do, please do what works for you.
2. Please be aware of the social distancing rules and the 5km from home guidelines when out on your run/walk.
3. Please upload a picture or even better a video to this page on Facebook once you have completed your activities using the hashtags #do5donate5forsteph #runforsteph. And if you can find the t-shirts we wore last year, please wear it while doing your activity.

Steph would have been so proud and delighted to see everyone out and about running her memory. Steph sadly passed away on the 19th of July 2018, aged 40, after a long, brave battle with cancer. Steph was  taken way too young in the prime of her life with so much left to give. She was an amazing wife, caring and devoted mother to 7-year-old twin girls,  beautiful daughter, loving sister and loyal and fun aunt, cousin, niece, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, friend and colleague.

Steph was always very sporty and slightly competitive 😊 and took part in the mini marathon a few times before she became ill.  She was always very encouraging, so take Steph’s advice and “just get out and do it 😊”.
