On October 30th, I will be running my first Marathon to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society and notably in memory of one of the most remarkable women I've ever met: Yve O'Driscoll.
Dervla? A runner? No. Not at all, in fact. That's why I've set up this page so late into my 5 month training plan, because I have doubted myself every step of the way. Before July 2022, I had never managed more than 10km. But do you know who wouldn't put up with that negative self-criticism? Yve.
In memory of Yve, I hope to raise €10 for every 1km with proceeds going to the Irish Cancer Society; who continue to strive for progress in cancer mitigation as well as provide support to countless number of people directly or indirectly affected by cancer.
I genuinely don't know if I'll make it to the finish line, but I do know that I will give it my everything.
The legacy and impact she has left will never be forgotten. All our love, Yve.
Congrats on winning iDonate November Fundraiser of the month.
Well done Dervla - amazing!
