I am running the Southampton half marathon in memory of Tadgh, the husband of my very good friend Sheila McCarthy. Tadgh passed away in St. James’s Hospital in Dublin in May last year after many months fighting leukaemia. He spent 5 months in the hospital. Bone Marrow For Leukaemia Trust provide ongoing support to St. James’s, and also provide direct support for patients and their relatives, especially recognising the support needed for those coming from outside Dublin, which Sheila and her children, Tadgh and Katie, needed during those 5 months. I never do anything like this, because I don’t like asking people for money. But this is a one off and something I really want to do, for a very good cause.
