On the 10th anniversary of Ken's Parkinsons diagnosis we are asking you to participate in and support a sponsored walk. We are asking for donations of €10 (hence Ten for Ken) but would appreciate any contribution.
On the same weekend in Chicago, Ken's son Cathal will be undertaking a similar feat. Our walk will be a gentle one (about 3 miles) taking in some scenic parts of Arklow.
In the ten years since his diagnosis Ken has made a decided effort to keep moving and he is a familiar sight around Arklow on his daily walks. Remarkably he has also completed three Caminos (Camino Frances, Camino Finisterre and Camino Portuguese).
However, Parkinsons has been taking its toll and walking has become more difficult. Ken still tries to walk every day though it is not always possible and he is now aided by his blinged out walker.
Ken's openness and honesty about the truly cruel nature of the disease has opened our eyes to the need for supports for Parkinsons patients. The loss of control and independence should not be faced alone.
That is why we are walking with Ken on October 5th to raise much needed funds for the Parkinsons Association of Ireland.
Please join Ken and us his family and extended family, let's make a difference!
