The majority of funds raised from our generous donors and supporters go towards providing services to people with Motor Neurone Disease.&nbs...
I took part in the ‘Walk whilst you can’ with my family and friends on Saturday the 14th of September for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA). This is a cause that lies close to my heart after my father, a fit and active Professor of Veterinary medicine was given the devastating diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease last December. There is no cure for MND and the only drug available, Rilutek, was licenced 25 years ago. It would be fair to say this debilitating disease is hugely underfunded. The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) are a one of kind charity, which provides 4 MND specialised community nurses across Ireland. They work closely with Professor Orla Hardiman, who heads up the National MND clinic. They also provide counselling for patients and their families. This walk was started by the late Father Tony Coote who sadly died recently at the age of 55 just over a year after diagnosis. His incredible efforts raised enough money for a 4th community nurse. This is an amazing cause run by an incredible team of people so please dig deep and give generously. Thanks xxx
