Event Details

I took part in the ‘Walk whilst you can’ with my father and family including my 1 year old daughter on Saturday the 14th of September for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA). This is a cause that lies close to my heart after my father, a fit and active Professor of Veterinary medicine was given the devastating diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease last December. There is no cure for MND and the only drug available, Rilutek, was licenced 25 years ago. It would be fair to say this debilitating disease is hugely underfunded. The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is a one of kind organisation, which provides 4 MND specialised community nurses across Ireland. They work closely with Professor Orla Hardiman, who heads up the National MND clinic and research team. They also provide equipment and counselling for patients and their families.
This walk was started by the late Father Tony Coote who sadly died recently at the age of 55 just over a year after diagnosis. His incredible efforts raised €600,000 and a 4th community nurse was recruited thanks to Father Tony.
This is an amazing cause run by an incredible team of people, so please dig deep and give generously.

All funds raised here will go directly to the IMNDA.  Simply click the Donate button above. All donations are processed securely.
You can also share my page using Share options below. This is a great way to show your support.
Many Thanks for your support.
