In the summer of 2015 our family was thrown upside down with an unexpected and very serious Cancer diagnosis of William Hayden, beloved husband, loving dad and grandad. William (Billy) was showing signs of dizziness and loss of coordination, and slurred speech we thought that he had a stroke but never realised it could be cancer. He attended the A&E at Tallaght hospital and within 24 hours he had his diagnosis. Stage 4 Lung Cancer that spread to his brain. Throughout the months between Chemo and radiation therapy he kept strong fighting like a lion. It was hard for our parents. Our poor mam was on overdrive looking after dad. Thanks to a leaflet that was given, our parents visited The Tallaght Cancer Support Group, when morale was at its lowest point. They were met by a caring team with a cup of tea and support. Our dad ended up visiting different therapies such as reflexology, counselling and for the first time he tried meditation. The support that was given to the whole family it was amazing.
